Office of Police Integrity Title: Enabling a Flexible Workforce for Policing in Victoria Summary: In October 2009 OPI commenced a review of Victoria Police work practices. The aim of the review was to determine whether Victoria Police will be able to deliver an ethical and professional workforce that will meet the future needs of the Victorian community. In April 2010, OPI released an Issues paper, Flexible work practices for policing. The Issues paper identified the following key areas that would be the focus of the review: recruitment and training; transfer and promotion; professional development; movement of staff return to work; exiting employment with Victoria Police. Since the release of the Issues paper, OPI has undertaken widespread consultation with rank and file police, the Victoria Police Executive, the Police Association, the Police Appeals Board and others.
